Alfred Chong was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2017. He is the founder of Messrs A. Chong & Co., where he handles matters related to civil litigation, corporate disputes, conveyancing, probate and administration, family law, and debt recovery. His practice also includes auction and bankruptcy proceedings, asset transfers, and dispute resolution.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Alfred gained experience in various areas of law:
He began his legal career as a legal clerk before progressing to a paralegal role at Messrs Liza Chan & Co., Petaling Jaya, where he assisted in civil litigation matters.
He later joined Messrs John Yong & Irene Song, Puchong, as a legal executive, handling civil litigation, banking disputes, foreclosure, auction, and bankruptcy matters, particularly cases involving loan defaults. He also attended to conveyancing transactions, including post-auction sales, loans, and subsales.
Alfred obtained his Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2015 and subsequently completed his pupillage at Messrs Shu Yin, Teh & Taing, where he assisted in conveyancing matters, including developer projects, loans, and subsales.
Following his admission to the Bar in 2017, he practiced as a legal assistant at Messrs H.L. Lee & Co., where he managed civil litigation cases related to contracts, insolvency, and tax disputes in the High Courts of Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur, as well as the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya.
Graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of West of England, Bristol in the United Kingdom in 2009.
Obtained Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in Malaysia in 2015.
Alfred has an interest in legal issues related to dispute resolution, alternative dispute resolutions, property disputes/ property transactions, strata titles disputes, property investment and shareholder disputes. He has previously been invited to share his insights at various industry events, including the 7th Malaysia Land Conference 2020 and other forums. Additionally, he has contributed articles on legal aspects of real estate and dispute resolutions to various publications.
